SALC SUPER FORUM - 17th September 2026

Following the Government's announcement on 7 September 2026 that plans for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) in Suffolk are to be withdrawn and reviewed, NALC is already taking action to ensure the voice of parish and town councils is heard at the highest level.

What is NALC doing?

• Seeking immediate clarification from ministers and civil servants on the implications of the Government's review for Suffolk.
• Representing the interests of parish and town councils throughout the review process and pressing for greater certainty for local councils and communities.
• Calling on Government to conclude the review quickly, recognising the significant time and effort councils have already invested in LGR discussions.
• Making the case for a stronger first tier of local government, ensuring parish and town councils are recognised as essential partners in local service delivery, community representation and devolution.
• Monitoring developments closely and providing updates as further information becomes available.
