Local councils acting as Sole Trustees of a charity - 12th November 2024

This course will be held online. Becoming a Sole Trustee of a charity is completely different to being a custodian. This is one way that a council can help a struggling charity. We will look at the different types of charity, what taking on sole trusteeship entails, long term solutions, understanding the complex roles and liabilities of being a statutory body but also managing a charity and most importantly as well as best practices and tips.

We will also look at the question of whether councillors are automatically trustees.
