Our AGM and 75th celebrations for 1st July is now fully booked. We will be welcoming Christine Luxton, Suffolk Wildlife Trust, Chief Executive and Baroness Ros Scott of Needham Market, NALC President.  For those not attending, we will be live streaming the event and details of this will be shared with your clerk next week.  We will be launching the SALC film which promotes our sector.  The AGM agenda and annual report is now available to view, click on this link to visit our dedicated AGM/75th celebration webpage.

The Suffolk Highways forums have been popular, so far this year they have provided information sessions on grass and verge cutting as well as roadworks.  These forums are recorded and available to watch in your own time, click on this link to view the dedicated Suffolk Highways webpage.  Upcoming forums are on the self-help scheme, flooding and drainage as well as winter maintenance programme.

Our core training for councillors and clerks continues to be popular either for those new to their role or as a refresher. There are various specialised courses coming up, Cemetery Management, presented by the ICCM and Playground Inspection taking place at Stowmarket Town Council, only five places left on for this course.  Allotment training was presented by The National Allotment Society over the last two weeks and we'll be liaising with them to book again for 2026.

The Suffolk Community Awards 2025 is open for nominations - SALC awards include councillor, clerk, young councillor, council and climate response of the year. Deadline for nominations is Sunday 13th July - winners are invited to the celebration event at The Food Museum, Stowmarket, in September.  Click on this link to nominate NOW!

The Local Councillor SALC e-newsletter was recently published and shared with your clerk. Click on this link to view the May 2025 edition.

Local Government Re-organisation, Suffolk County Council have published a survey which we encourage you to share with your residents and local businesses so that they have the opportunity to have their say - deadline for the survey is Monday 4th August 2025  - click on this link to visit the dedicated LGR SCC webpage.  Additional resources are available on this webpage.

In the NALC's CEO bulletin last week, NALC announced that it has secured major victory as the government backs remote council meetings. In a momentous decision, the government has announced plans to amend legislation, allowing local authorities (including parish and town councils) to hold remote and hybrid meetings. This move is a powerful victory for parish and town councils following our persistent advocacy.
