This module is an opportunity for new and experienced councillors to consider meetings and the procedural rules. It will cover understanding that an agenda demonstrates that a council is acting lawfully and provides guidance and a framework to help councillors prepare for meetings.

This SALC councillor core training pathway offers lots of flexibility for new and more experienced councillors.    The six modules in the series cover the following areas and it is recommended all six modules are booked at the same time:

  • module 1 - roles and responsibilities

  • module 2 - powers, duties and finance

  • module 3 - effective meetings

  • module 4 - code of conduct

  • module 5 - the planning system

  • module 6 - community engagement
