This module covers what it means to act within the Suffolk Code of Conduct and in the spirit of the Nolan Principles. It includes understanding and identifying both pecuniary and non-pecuniary interests and the dispensation process.

This SALC councillor core training pathway offers lots of flexibility for new and more experienced councillors.    The six modules in the series cover the following areas and it is recommended all six modules are booked at the same time:

  • module 1 - roles and responsibilities

  • module 2 - powers, duties and finance

  • module 3 - effective meetings

  • module 4 - code of conduct

  • module 5 - the planning system

  • module 6 - community engagement
