As a result local councils are often at a sign ificant disadvantage compared to other stakeholders involved in these matt ers. For some time SALC have been calling for sector specific guidance tha t enables local councils of all sizes to understand\, plan and prepare the ir approach for future major projects. An NSIPs Centre of Excellence for t he East of England has been set up by Suffolk County Council funded in 202 2/23 by the Department for Levelling Up\, Housing and Communities' (DLUHC) Innovation and Capacity Fund.
